Orange Bars

These have a wonderful chewy texture. You'll love 'em!
4   Eggs, beaten  
1 lb    Brown sugar  
1 cup    Melted shortening  
2 cups    Flour  
1/4 tsp    Salt  
1 tsp    Baking powder  
1 cup    Candy orange slices  
1 to 3 Tbs    Flour  
  Powdered sugar to coat bars  
1 Beat the eggs until light.
2 Add the brown sugar, shortening, flour, salt and baking powder, and mix well.
3 Cut the candy orange slices into four or five pieces, sprinkle the flour over them and toss lightly to separate. Add with nut meats to the prepared batter.
4 Spread in a greased and floured jelly roll pan and bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
5 Cut in bars while warm and roll in powdered sugar.
