Soft Custard Sauce

2 cups    Milk or cream  
3   Eggs  
¼ cup    Sugar  
¼ tsp    Salt  
1 tsp    Vanilla  
1 Scald milk (or cream).
2 Combine eggs, sugar and salt in bowl.
3 Add scalded milk gradually.
4 Cook, stirring constantly until mixture coats spoon. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla.
5 Cool by placing in bowl of cold water and stirring 1 to 2 min. more.
6 Chill.
